Registration and Permitting

NEW MEXICO NON-RESIDENT OHV PUBLIC-LAND-USE PERMIT
AND PAVED-ROAD-USE PERMIT

Non-resident OHV registration requirements vary depending on the vehicle’s registration status and whether it will be operated on public land or paved roads in New Mexico.

If a non-resident is from a state listed below that has not established an OHV registration or user fee, then the non-resident must purchase New Mexico’s Off-Highway Vehicle Non-Resident Permit and/or Paved-Road-Use Permit.

States without a registration program and no use fee:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Mississippi
  • Nebraska
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia

NON-RESIDENT OHV PERMIT FEES

  • $48 – Two-Year Permit
  • $18 – 90-Day Permit
  • $7 – Paved-Road-Use Permit (permanent)

Non-resident permits can be purchased:

* Two-year permit must be renewed every two years from the date of initial registration.
* Non-residents who have proof of any valid OHV registration are not required to purchase a New Mexico permit.
