NEW MEXICO RESIDENT OHV PUBLIC-LAND REGISTRATION
New Mexico requires residents to register any OHV used on public lands and to display a validation decal on the OHV. Registration is required for OHVs prior to use on any public lands in New Mexico. Note that resident registration for public land use must be renewed every two years.
NEW MEXICO RESIDENT OHV PAVED-ROAD REGISTRATION
New Mexico requires residents to obtain additional registration for any OHV used on paved roads where allowed. Residents riding on allowed paved roads must have both a New Mexico Off-Highway Registration Decal and a New Mexico On/Off-Highway Registration Decal (both a yellow and green decal are needed to be valid).

RESIDENT OHV REGISTRATION FEES
- $53 – Initial Registration.
- $50 – Registration every two years or upon change of ownership.
- $7 – Paved-Road-Use Plate or Paved-Road-Use.
Resident registrations can only be purchased through MVD.
* Two-year permit must be renewed every two years from the date of initial registration.
* Residents who have proof of any valid OHV registration are not required to purchase a New Mexico permit.
